Pirates win big on Senior Night; Lady Pirates in playoff for second place

Granbury (17-7, 11-1 in District 7-4A) 12, Trimble Tech (7-5 in District 7-4A) 4
Senior Daniel Arnett comes in to pitch in relief with bases loaded and no outs in the fifth and finishes with three scoreless innings. He also had a clutch two-run double in the fifth. Sophomore Tristen Fallin hit a pair of home runs as Pirates remain tied for first in district with Arlington Heights, two games up on Aledo, which was upset 7-4 by Southwest. Granbury hosts Aledo Tuesday, to whom they lost 4-3 in Aledo, giving up four runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Baird 4, Lipan (7-5, all 10-A) 3
Indians’ playoff chances take a hit with second loss to Baird.
Softball
Western Hills (10-4 in District 7-4A) 6, Granbury (15-7, 10-4) 4
Loss forced Lady Pirates into three-way playoff with South Hills and Western Hills as they tied for second place behind Aledo.
Lipan 11, Santo 9
Lady Indians (1-11) end season on positive note.
Saturday, April 19
Granbury 4, South Hills 1
Lady Pirates will take on Western Hills for second place Monday, 5:30 p.m. at Saginaw H.S. Loser will enter bidistrict as No. 3 seed from district. South Hills is the fourth seed.
