Area athletes wrap up track season on biggest stage

Class 2A girls pole vault – Tolar’s Reagan Mabery tied for fourth place with a top vault of 11 feet. It was her fourth consecutive appearance at state in this event, with her placing fourth as a freshman, sixth as a sophomore and fifth last season. Madison Pecot of White Oak won this season’s event with a state-record 12-6.
Class 2A boys triple jump – Tolar’s Garrett Winston, despite a severely swollen injured ankle, finished seventh with a 44-02 effort. He was making his first appearance at state.
Class A Division II girls 800 – Lipan’s Lanie Roberts finished eighth with a time of 2:35.30, making her second straight appearance in this event.
Class A Division II girls 300 hurdles – Lipan’s Shauna Coleman places ninth with a clocking of 53.06 seconds in her first appearance at state.
Class A Division II girls 1600 – Roberts captures seventh place, running a 5:57.20 competing at state for the first time in this event.
