An inmate at the Granbury Regional Juvenile Justice Center is in jail after hitting a detention officer and causing lacerations and bruises to his face, according to Police Department Lieutenant Cliff Andrews.

Tarrant County resident Josiah Isaiah Flores was served with a warrant on a felony charge of assaulting a public servant.

“Mr. Flores will be prosecuted as an adult as he was 17 years old at the time the offense occurred,” Andrews said.

Angie Lowe, facility administrator for the juvenile center, said the incident occurred on March 8 in what is called a dorm room, or day room, rather than in a cell. The detention officer, who is not being identified, did not require medical treatment, she said.

Flores was released into the custody of the Granbury police for transfer to jail, she added.
