Volunteer drivers are needed to take Hood County military veterans to their medical appointments at the outpatient clinic in Fort Worth once or twice a week. Asa Maddox, a senior officer with American Legion Post 491, is pictured with a wheelchair-accessible, 15-passenger Chevrolet bus similar to a new 2014 model that soon will be donated by the VA Hospital in Bonham through the Veterans Transportation Network. Drivers must be at least 21 years old. They will be fingerprinted and must pass a physical exam. The bus will be donated after 10 local drivers are certified. For more details on becoming a volunteer driver, call Maddox at 817-964-7761.
