For the entire state of Texas – 254 counties covering 268,820 square miles – Granbury ranks No. 25 on the list of favorite travel destinations voted by readers of Texas Highways magazine.
“We’re clearly excited for Granbury for being included on the list, especially because it was by readers’ vote,” said Sheri Campbell-Husband, Granbury’s assistant city manager.
“People in Granbury have known for a long time that this is a great tourist destination, and it’s wonderful that others are finding out that as well.”
Campbell-Husband said that the magazine’s list is being released in four parts. The top 23 travel destinations in the state will be revealed in the next two issues, she said.
“That’s awesome,” said Warren Ketteman, executive director of the Lake Granbury Area Economic Development Corporation. “Think about the state of Texas with 254 counties … I think that’s fantastic. That’s a great honor for Granbury.”
Ketteman indicated that sort of ranking doesn’t happen by accident.
“It’s just proof positive that folks in Granbury are doing something right,” Ketteman said. “Like with any business, it’s repeat business that makes things right. You’ve got to treat people right. That means people like what their experience was here.”
Online (www.texashighways.com), an excerpt from the summary of Granbury’s attractions states:
“Far enough from DFW to feel like small-town Texas but close enough to draw on the Metroplex’s economic vitality, Granbury offers an enticing slate of enticing options for tourists.”
Another article in the Texas Highways’ April edition of local interest is about the Granbury Wine Walk. This year’s Wine Walk is scheduled for the last weekend of April.
