Filing to start for some city, school elections

July 16, 2014

The filing period for several city and school elections opens Saturday.

However, since offices are closed on weekends, the filing period effectively begins Monday.

Elections are planned for: the city of Granbury and Granbury ISD; the city of Tolar and Tolar ISD; the city of Cresson; the city of deCordova; Bluff Dale ISD; and the city of Stockton Bend.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 4.

City and school elections could be cancelled if no one files to challenge any incumbents seeking re-election.

The deadline to file is 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18.

For the Granbury city races, Places 4 and 6 will be on the November ballot.

Those seats currently are held by Rose Myers and Mickey Parson, respectively.

Candidate packets can be downloaded from the city secretary page on the city’s website (www.granbury.org).

Packets can also be obtained at the city secretary’s office on the second floor of Granbury City Hall, 116 W. Bridge St.

On the Granbury School Board of trustees, terms will be expiring for Don Walton in Place 1 and Barbara Herrington in Place 2.
