Sheriff: Woman choked

A Tolar-area man accused of choking his girlfriend and slamming her head on the ground Thursday was arrested on two felony charges by Hood County Sheriff’s Office deputies, according to Lieutenant Johnny Rose.

Randy Robert Gross, 52, with an address listed on Paluxy Highway, is charged with assault family violence impede breathing and family violence aggravated assault, Rose said.

“Gross choked the victim several times with his hands and slammed her head to the ground several times,” Rose stated, noting that the victim, his 53-year-old girlfriend, was transported to Lake Granbury Medical Center. “The victim was released hours later and is in fair condition with bruises and abrasions to the head and neck.”

Gross remained in the Hood County Jail as of press time with bonds totaling $85,000.
