GPD: Man with arson probation warrant arrested

A 41-year-old Granbury man wanted on an out-of-state arson-related warrant was arrested Saturday, May 3 by a Granbury police officer and charged with felony methamphetamine possession, according to Deputy Chief Alan Hines.

Jeffery Lee Barnett, of the 1200 block of Plaza Drive, was a passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over for a traffic offense at the intersection of Harbor Lakes and Highway 377 East, Hines said.

“During the investigation it was learned that Mr. Barnett was wanted out of Alabama for a probation violation (original charge arson),” Hines said. “During the investigation a baggie containing a white crystal substance was located.”

Hines noted that Barnett was charged with possession of less than 1 gram of a controlled substance, plus a misdemeanor count of failure to identify as a fugitive.
