Charity group organizing help for border children

July 23, 2014

Scammers may be trying to target people who want to help the unaccompanied children in the current border crisis.

However, there is a legitimate organization collecting donations.

Catholic Charities Fort Worth is taking donations of needed supplies and money for anyone wanting to give.

Personal hygiene items along with toys, pencils, notebook paper, crayons and coloring books are just a few of the many items suggested on the website (catholicharitiesfortworth.org.). Donations can be dropped off at 249 Thornhill Dr. in Fort Worth, Mondays through Fridays, 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

The contact person for donation opportunities is Danielle Graham. She can be reached by calling 817-413-3926, or via email ([email protected]).

Neither the Granbury Police Department nor the Sheriff’s Office had received local reports of scammers trying to take advantage of the situation, although reports from other communities have cautioned against such predators falsely representing themselves as charity representatives.
