State sales tax revenue in May was up 8.5 percent compared to last May, Texas Comptroller Susan Combs said. “Sales tax growth was evident across all major economic sectors,” Combs said. Growth was led by the retail and wholesale trade sectors. Sales tax figures represent monthly sales made in April, sent to the state in May, and distributed to the taxing entities in June.
