blood drive Sunday
For more than a decade, H-E-B grocery chain has made blood donation a priority in their communities.
In 2013, 17 stores hosted blood drives and together they collected 623 units of blood with Carter BloodCare. This summer, H-E-B stores will again challenge each other to collect the most blood in a series of blood drives called the “H-E-B Challenge.”
H-E-B Granbury is hosting a blood drive from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 6, at 3804 U.S. 377 on the Carter BloodCare bus.
“Carter BloodCare is responsible for meeting the blood transfusion needs of patients in more than 50 counties in North, Central and East Texas,” said Carter BloodCare’s Michelle Stefan, vice president of Corporate and Community Resources. “To do that, we partner with exceptional corporations like H-E-B that energize volunteer blood donors, to make blood transfusion possible for patients.”
An annual traveling trophy is awarded to the store with the highest ratio of donors versus employees; this helps equal the playing field between small and large stores. There is a smaller trophy for the store that collects the most units of blood. The Carter BloodCare Central Texas staff hosts an ice cream social for employees at the two winning stores.
