An 8-year-old bus student struck by a vehicle in Indian Harbor Friday morning was released from a hospital later that day, GISD Information Officer Jeff Meador said with permission from the parents.
Another source said the student is a boy.
The student received facial stitches and had scrapes and bruises, the parents said through Meador. X-rays and a CT scan at Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth showed no internal injuries, they added.
The incident occurred just before 7 a.m. on West Apache Trail, according to 911 records.
The boy was running across the street toward the school bus when he was hit, authorities said.
According to information from the scene and a review of the bus video, the bus was stopped with flashing lights, door open, and stop signs deployed,” Meador stated, noting that the other students on the bus were transported to school on a different bus.
The case was handled by the Hood County Sheriff’s Office, and Lieutenant Johnny Rose said it’s under investigation. The driver was not arrested, and no ticket has been issued.
“We’re going to look at the case, and if there are any charges to be filed, we’ll file them,” Rose stated Monday.
