Former Granbury resident Blake T. Bowen, a special agent with IRS Criminal Investigation, was recently recognized for his work that led to the conviction of Julio Cesar Cardenas and members of his drug trafficking organization.
The award is presented by the U.S. Attorney’s Office to recognize officers and agents in the Southern District of Texas for outstanding performance and contribution to federal investigations.
Bowen began working for the agency in 1998 and is assigned to the IRS-CI’s Houston Field Office.
He spearheaded the investigation into money laundering, asset forfeiture and financial components. The Cardenas organization shipped multi-thousand-kilogram quantities of marijuana and cocaine to the southeastern states.
