The eyesore in the water by Hewlett Park across from the Granbury Conference Center should soon be a thing of the past.
Well over four years ago, poles were placed in the water in preparation for the construction of a public boat dock and fishing pier. The dock never materialized due to a disagreement between the city and Jay Mills construction company in Stephenville about the materials that were to be used.
The disagreement turned into a legal dispute that rocked on for several years.
In December 2012, a compromise and settlement agreement was reached, but even then the problems continued.
It was determined in August 2013 that the construction company had failed to meet the agreed-upon deadline.
The project is now moving forward, with construction being handled by Litchfield & Sons of Tolar.
Workers were at the site late last week, according to Public Works Director Alva Cox.
