The Waechters celebrate anniversary

Joseph Charles and Mildred Isabel Waechter of Granbury celebrated their 70th anniversary on Nov. 14, 2012. Family and friends will share in a celebration in their honor in the near future.

“Joe” and the former Mildred “Millie” Weigand were married on Nov. 14, 1942 in Detroit, Mich. when Joe was on a weekend leave from the United States Coast Guard while stationed in Port Huron, Mich.

Joe retired as Superintendent of the U.S. Post Office in Canton, Ohio, in 1978. Millie retired as a secretary from the Stark County 4-H Extension Office in Canton, Ohio, in 1986.

Joe and Millie have lived in Ohio and Florida and enjoyed their retirement years traveling extensively in their motor home throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. They also enjoyed traveling in Europe. Granbury has been their home since 2000.

Together their lives exemplify commitment, love and loyalty.

Joe and Millie are members of St. Frances Cabrini Church.

They have three children: daughter Carol and husband Mike live in Granbury, son Terry and wife Marlene live in Jackson, Ohio, and a deceased son, Father Ronald Waechter.

They have 13 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
