Ray and Belle Menefee of Pecan Plantation celebrated their 70th anniversary this month.

Ray Menefee and the former Mary Belle Strain were married on March 11, 1944 while Ray was on leave from Air Force Pilot duties during WWII.

Belle is a graduate of Grapevine High School. Ray is a graduate of North Side High School and TCU in Fort Worth. He was vice president of KFJZ AM-KWXI FM radio, Texas State Network, Dallas Cowboy radio network, then KTVT Television and owner of Mark Frederick, Inc.

The couple retired in 1988. Diamond Oaks was their home in Fort Worth before moving to Granbury in 1996.

They are the proud parents of sons Larry and Garry and daughter Donna, second family Angela and Michelle, grandparents of five and great-grandparents of five.

Seventy years of the greatest marriage ever! When Belle’s mother gave her consent, she said, “Ok, but it will never last.”
