Joe Frank and Judy Carol Henson, of Granbury, celebrated their 50th anniversary with a family dinner and dance at H3 Stockyards Restaurant in Fort Worth on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013. Because dancing has always been a favorite treat, the celebration included the couple’s favorite dance band, Double JR.
Joe Frank Henson and the former Judy Carol Green were married on Dec. 28, 1963 at the First United Methodist Church in Robert Lee.
The couple met at the 1962 Barnhart Christmas Dance. After their marriage, they attended college at West Texas State University and Sul Ross State University. After working on a ranch in Louisiana, the couple settled on teaching careers and moved back to Texas. Their teaching careers brought them to the cities of Lockney, Pecos, Van Horn and Midland. After retiring, they moved to Pecan Plantation to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
The couple both retired as school teachers from Midland ISD. Joe was an Agricultural Science teacher and spent many years taking his “Ag Kids” to livestock shows and FFA contests. He is a member of the Retired Ag. Teachers Association, Teachers Retirement System and Acton United Methodist Church.
