Bob and Cheryl Murray, of Pecan Plantation ,celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014.

They will be taking an anniversary road trip to the west coast going through Oregon, Washington, and into Canada sometime during the summer months, when the weather has warmed.

Cheryl was born in California and Bob in Texas. Their respective parents moved them to Ruidoso, N.M. where they became high school sweethearts and eloped to be married when Bob was in his freshman year of college.

Cheryl worked while Bob got his degree in Civil Engineering from New Mexico State University. In June 1969, he took a job with Dallas Power & Light. He held various positions within their sister companies during his 17-year career with them, one of which was the original construction manager of Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant.

They have spent the majority of their happily married life in the Dallas area, as well as 19 years in Houston where Cheryl was Bob’s office manager in their custom home building business.

They have one daughter, Robbin Franklin and two granddaughters, Shannon and Kelsey Franklin, who all live in Sugar Land. Robbin is a seventh grade math teacher, Shannon is a senior in high school and will graduate June 7 and Kelsey is a junior in high school graduating in 2015.
