“Wounded Women of the Bible: Finding Hope When Life Hurts,” by Dena (Ratliff) Dyer and co-author, Tina Samples, tied for first place in the Nonfiction Book of the Year category in the 2014 Golden Scroll Awards.

Winners were announced recently at the 2014 Golden Scroll Awards Banquet, in conjunction with the International Christian Retail Show in Atlanta.

The book was released last fall by Kregel Publications, an evangelical Christian publisher that aims to develop and distribute biblically-based resources that lead individuals to know and serve Jesus Christ.

“We are honored and humbled by this award,” said Dyer. “God gave Tina the book idea in the middle of the night, and it took several difficult years for the two of us to nurture the book from concept to completion. We are very grateful that “Wounded Women of the Bible” is touching lives and has received this kind of affirmation.”

Dyer and Samples met while performing in “The Promise” 15 years ago. Dyer and her husband, Carey, have been active in a variety of music productions. They sang at “Granbury Live” for eight years.

Carey is currently the Minister of Music and Worship at Lakeside Baptist Church. Dyer teaches English and Creative Writing at Lakeside Baptist Academy and is a contributing editor for The High Calling website.

Samples and her husband, Dave, served in ministry at First Baptist Church, Lipan, before moving to Windsor, Colorado.
