Granbury Theater Company is presenting the sequel to its 2016 show “The Marvelous Wonderettes” on the Opera House stage.
The jukebox musical “The Marvelous Wonderettes: Dream On” started last night and will run through Oct. 8.
In the sequel,the Marvelous Wonderettes are back at Springfield High to throw a retirement party for their favorite homeroom teacher. But as the song and dance unfold, one of the Wonderettes reveals she’ll also saying goodbye to search for success and happiness on her own.
Reprising their roles from the 2016 production are Amber Lanning (Suzy), Caitlin Leblo (Cindy Lou), Kelly Nickell (Betty Jean), and Emily Warwick (Missy).
A live band will accompany the girls: Jeremy Bowen, piano; Greg Doss, synthesizer; Parker Barrus, guitar; Kyle Hoffman, bass; and Haden Capps, drums.
The musical is under the direction of Brian Lawson. Jamie Deel is leading music direction, and Brooke Goodson is the choreographer. Designers for the production are Kerri Pavelick, scenery; Joshua Carpenter, sound; Kalani Morrissette, lighting; Emily Warwick, costumes; and Gaylene Carpenter, props. Cessany Ford is the stage manager.
Performances are 7:30 p.m. on Fridays, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturdays, and 2 p.m. on Sundays.
