Six members of the Granbury High School choir were recently named Texas Music Scholars by a state organization for meritorious performance in the areas of scholarship, musicianship and citizenship.
Students honored with the designation by the Texas Music Educators Association were Baylee Davis, Brynn Deger, Kiersten Mathis, Kendon Parker, Deanna Rupp and Zach Zagrocki.
Parker and Rupp just completed their junior year, while Davis, Mathis, and Zagrocki were sophomores. Deger was a freshman at Crossland Ninth Grade Center.
To be selected, students must maintain an overall A average along with academic eligibility; participate in all scheduled events of the music organization; attend two director-approved concert events during the school year; and perform a UIL-prescribed Class I solo for a competition or public performance.
The students were nominated by GHS choir directors Joy Hope and Greg Doss.
