Tolar qualifies 14 from Area 9/10 track

Even without one of their top performers, the Tolar Rattlers continued their track dominance Wednesday, easily winning the Area 9/-10 2A Meet in Boyd.

The Tolar boys have now gone two years without losing an invitational, district or area meet in which they fielded a complete team. They were second when sending a partial team to the prestigious Texas Relays.

The Rattlers, who scored 121 points Wednesday, qualified 11 athletes for the Region II Meet at Tarleton State University in Stephenville April 25-26.Read the rest

Whitney ends Tolar playoff hopes

The Tolar Rattlers’ final hopes at a postseason berth were dashed Tuesday with an 11-3 home loss to Whitney.

The loss dropped the Rattlers to 9-9 overall and to 1-7 in District 10-2A.

The Rattlers hurt themselves greatly by committing a half dozen errors.

Cade Brown led the Tolar offense by collecting two of the team’s three hits. Dakota Endsley drove in two of their three runs.Read the rest

Tolar drops home finale’ to Whitney

Visiting Maypearl jumped out to a big lead early and went on to post a 15-4 District 10-2A softball victory over Tolar Friday.

Maypearl took a 9-0 after batting in the top of the first inning. They built the advantage to 10-0 before the Lady Rattlers got on the board.

Rattlers’ return home spoiled

With both starting pitchers out sick, the Tolar Rattlers’ return home was not a ceremonious one, falling 17-4 to Maypearl.

The Rattlers (9-9 overall) fell to 1-6 in District 10-2A. They are clinging to slim playoff hopes, but must win their final three games at home to have any chance.

“We will have everyone back healthy (last night against Whitney). We will need to win out to have a shot,” said Tolar coach Darrell Hogan.Read the rest

Tolar track sending 24 to area

Next season the Tolar track program will be moving to a new district and classification.

It’s a good bet the rest of District 10-2A won’t be complaining.

For a fourth consecutive year a Tolar team won district, this time the Rattlers as they scored 185 points to easily outdistance runner-up Whitney with 136.

The Lady Rattlers were fourth in their division, scoring 98 points.Read the rest

Tolar’s grueling stretch over

The Tolar Rattlers wrapped up a five-game road stretch with a 14-8 loss at Grandview Tuesday.

The loss, the Rattlers’ fourth in the stretch, dropped Tolar (9-8 overall) to 1-5 in District 10-2A.

“The district decides the schedule,” is all Tolar coach Darrell Hogan said about the grueling stretch of games.

The Tolar Lady Rattlers’ postseason softball hopes came to an end Tuesday night with a 10-0 loss at Grandview.

The Lady Rattlers (6-12 overall) slipped to 2-6 in District 10-2A with two games to play, including last night’s home finale’ against Maypearl.

“Tonight’s game was a must-win, and it just didn’t fall our way,” said Tolar coach Christy Collie.

Lady Rattlers get big win

The Tolar Lady Rattlers ended a four-game losing streak by pulling away from Rio Vista for a 10-5 road victory Friday.

The victory improved the Lady Rattlers (6-11 overall) to 2-5 in District 10-2A. It kept their postseason hopes.

The Lady Rattlers were led by Haley Webb, who was 3-for-4 with a home run, walk, three runs batted in and four stolen bases.Read the rest

The Tolar Rattlers fell behind early and could not catch up as they dropped a 10-4 road baseball contest at Rio Vista Friday.

The Rattlers (9-7 overall) fell to 1-4 at the midpoint of the District 10-2A race.

Stevie Morphew led Tolar, going 2-for-4. Dusty Kimmel had a hit and two RBIs.

The game was also the fourth of five consecutive road contests for the Rattlers.Read the rest
