Rattlers win final game in tourney

The Tolar Rattlers, with their new arrivals from the football team still getting into basketball shape, dropped their first two games in the Dublin basketball tournament, but bounced back to defeat Early in a consolation bracket match last Saturday.

Coach Kent Caruthers’ Rattlers (1-4) defeated Early, 69-68, Saturday. They had lost in the first round Thursday to Coleman, 73-50, then fell to Eastland, 48-45, on Friday.

Lady Rattlers outscored

December 13, 2014

The Tolar Lady Rattlers fell behind in the second quarter and couldn’t get back in the contest on Tuesday night in a 43-30 nondistrict girls basketball loss on the road in Millsap.

The Lady Rattlers (2-7) were outscored 14-5 in the second quarter and trailed 25-13 at intermission.

Tolar suffered through multiple injuries during the early part of the season but are starting to get healthy, according to coach Benita Carlton.

Lady Rattlers earn volleyball awards

The Tolar Lady Rattlers collected four major awards and placed three other players on the first team in voting for all-District 9-2A volleyball for the 2014 season.

Coach Scotty Miller’s Lady Rattlers earned the district title – the first in Tolar’s volleyball history – then came within one win of reaching the Region II tournament.

Lady Rattlers grab season’s first two wins

The Tolar girls are slowly getting healthier and even picked up their first two wins of the season over the weekend in the Glen Rose Lions Club basketball tournament.

In the consolation bracket, the Lady Rattlers (2-6) defeated West, 45-36, for their first victory of the season, then beat Fort Worth Christian, 48-37, later in the day in their final game of the tournament.

No. 2 Mart ends Tolar’s season, 52-14

MANSFIELD – The Tolar Rattlers’ historic football season came to an end Friday night at Vernon Newsom Stadium as Tolar (10-3) suffered a 52-14 defeat at the hands of the second-ranked Mart Panthers (12-0) in the regional round of the Class 2A playoffs.

Mart was ranked No. 2 in the Associated Press poll.

Lady Rattlers fall to Strawn

The Tolar girls basketball team couldn’t recover from a slow start Tuesday night in a nondistrict game at Strawn and dropped a 77-40 decision to the Lady Greyhounds.

The Lady Rattlers, now 0-3 on the season, managed to score just 5 points in the opening quarter, and trailed 46-16 at halftime.

Endsley helping lead ‘Brotherhood’ for Tolar

This year’s playoff drive for coach Mike Franklin’s Tolar football team is all about The Brotherhood.

That’s according to senior quarterback Dakota Endsley, who is on the verge of a 2,000-yard passing season as the team goes into the regional round of the Class 2A, Div. I playoffs against second-ranked Mart.
