Lady Rattlers top Poolville, Newcastle

The Tolar Lady Rattlers cruised past Newcastle in straight sets on Saturday, following up a five-set volleyball victory over Poolville on Sept. 16.

In the Newcastle contest, Tolar won, 25-19, 25-23, 25-17.

Kailee Brock and Kennedy Wood posted 4 kills each for Tolar, and Liz Blessing had a team-high 10 kills.

Rattlers top Bulldogs for second victory

The Tolar Rattlers got a touchdown run by running back Blayne Denton midway through the fourth quarter Friday in Bosqueville for a 16-11 nondistrict football victory over the Bulldogs.

Tolar (2-1) got another big rushing night from Denton, who gained 177 yards on 35 carries. The score that put the Rattlers ahead to stay – Denton’s 34-yard TD run – finished off a 7-play, 81-yard Tolar drive that took only 2 minutes off the clock.

Bryson beats Tolar in volleyball

The Tolar volleyball team was swept by Bryson in three straight sets on the road Saturday, 25-17, 25-7, 25-22.

Hannah Lee and Tristan Klein paced the Lady Rattlers in kills, with 6 each. Teammate Madeline Dawson added 3. Lee also led the way in aces, with three.

Rebecca Blessing had 2 blocked shots.

Tolar rolls for first win

After last week’s heartbreaking overtime loss to Crawford, the Tolar Rattlers bounced back in dominating fashion Friday for a 41-27 nondistrict football victory at Comanche.

Tolar quarterback Dakota Endsley had a tremendous game, throwing for 325 yards and 5 touchdowns while running for one more.

After holding a slim 14-13 halftime lead, Tolar stepped up its game on all fronts in the second half for the win, which improved the Rattlers to 1-1 on the season.

TOLAR – When the 10th-ranked Crawford Pirates entered Rattler Stadium Friday, they may not have realized what they were about to face.

Tolar’s Blayne Denton finished the game with 307 yards of total offense, with 290 yards rushing on 48 carries and 3 touchdowns. The experience also included more than 1,000 yards of offense, two separate instances of three unanswered touchdowns, and a 90-yard touchdown pass.

With Tolar’s players donning different jersey numbers than will be worn during the regular season, it was often difficult to distinguish the players on the field during Thursday night’s football scrimmage against Dublin at Rattler Stadium.

Determining the superior team was not.

The scrimmage consisted of a junior varsity-varsity controlled simulation, a single live quarter for the JV and a full half for the varsity.
