7-on-7 defense

While the sport of 7-on-7 football is more known for its high-scoring offense, good defense can also be displayed, as shown by Tolar’s Jake Jones (in purple) breaking up a pass during a recent tournament in Glen Rose. The Rattlers have played in two 7-on-7 tournaments this summer, attempting to qualify for the state tournament.

Newest Rattler has a summer to enjoy first

June 24, 2015

The gap between the world of sports and reality appears to widen daily.

For example, a man wearing a helmet and carrying a gun to defend his country should make much more than a man wearing a helmet and carrying a football.

College athletes should not be paid. Their scholarship worth many thousand dollars is their payment.

And, as we have seen many times before, anywhere Lady Luck goes, excitement is sure to follow.

Tolar state representation continues to get bigger

AUSTIN – Saving the best for last is the goal of any athlete. It often means winning.

If the Tolar Rattlers had matched or eclipsed their time of 3:23.26 they ran in winning Region II in the 1600-meter relay, they’d have also won a gold medal at state.

Tolar proof speed only part of a good relay

There’s a reason relays count double points in a track meet.

There’s a lot more to them than being able to run fast.

One slip of the hand, a baton goes tumbling to the ground, and the speediest of quartets find themselves out of contention.

But, if a team is good at relays – as they are in Tolar – there’s a lot of points to be scored.
