Cornerstone will host Daddy-Daughter Volleyball Night Thursday at 7 p.m. following the middle school match. Fathers of volleyball players will compete against their daughters.

The event is free to the public.


Former Granbury Lady Pirate volleyball player Paige Holt was named Bulldog of the Week recently by Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

Lady Pioneers’ title hopes stay alive

The North Central Texas Academy Lady Pioneers stayed in the hunt for a district volleyball championship, winning at Wichita Christian 25-16, 25-22, 25-5.

The Lady Pioneers (17-2 overall, 4-1 in TAPPS 2-A) remained second in district behind Wichita Falls Christ Academy, whom they host Thursday.

Taylor Roach (7) and Bojana Vukadinovic (6) combined for 13 kills.

That’s exactly what the North Central Texas Academy Pioneers did, disposing of Wichita Falls Notre Dame 96-50 to wrap up predistrict play.

Calvary topples Cornerstone

The Cornerstone Crusaders fell to 1-5 this football season with a 62-12 home loss to Denton Calvary Friday.

The Crusaders found themselves down 36-6 at the half.

Cornerstone got 165 yards passing and 61 rushing yards from quarterback Tanner Ives. He also caught a pass for 26 yards to account for 252 total yards.

Lady Pioneers win in sweep at home

The North Central Texas Academy Lady Pioneers won their third straight district volleyball match Tuesday, topping Denton Selwyn at home 25-14, 25-6, 25-9.

The Lady Pioneers improved to 16-2 overall and 3-1 in the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools District 2-A.

Taylor Roach (11), Bojana Vukadinovic (9) and Sophie Schultz (4) combined for 24 aces.

Saturday was a great day for an afternoon football game.

But this is Texas, and it did get hot, so the North Central Texas Academy Pioneers shortened their contest against Spring Branch Living Rock.

The contest was ended early in the second half due to six-man football’s 45-point mercy rule after the Pioneers scored to go ahead 74-27.

C’stone rallies for first victory of season

The Cornerstone Crusaders captured their first victory of the football season Friday, coming back to win in dramatic fashion.

The Crusaders (1-4) trailed by 20 points at the half at Fruitvale. However, they stormed back in the second half to come away with a 52-46 victory.

“It was an amazing comeback victory,’ said Cornerstone coach Chris Eikenhorst, whose team found itself in a 32-12 halftime deficit.

NCTA back on record pace

Only three games into the season and North Central Texas Academy’s Mekhi Hyman has put up numbers that would be a dream COMPLETE season for any other running back.

Hyman has 47 carries for 1,163 yards and 22 touchdowns. He’s on pace for nearly 4,000 yards and over 70 touchdowns.

“Mekhi is having an incredible year so far, a crazy year,” said NCTA coach Kirby Rasco.
