NCTA girls move to 4-0

The North Central Texas Academy Lady Pioneers remained unbeaten with a 54-31 basketball victory over Maypearl Tuesday night at home.

NCTA (4-0) picked up 26 points from Esther Udonsi. Teammate Gabriela Bianchi added 14 while Korede Ahmedu scored 8.

The next game for coach Jodie Stevens’ Lady Pioneers is set for Tuesday, Dec.

SCHOLARSHIP IN BERRY’S NAME HAVING FUNDRAISER

An event Monday, Nov. 24, at Oeste Ranch Golf Course in Weatherford will benefit the newly created Briggs Berry Heart of a Lion Scholarship, according to organizers.

Briggs Berry, who was a popular and outstanding senior golfer for Granbury High School, died on Sept. 13 after battling a lengthy illness.

NCTA advances to regional round

The North Central Texas Academy Pioneers advanced to the regional round of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools Div. II six-man football playoffs with a 72-51 area-round playoff victory over San Marcos Hill Country Christian School, played in Prairie Lea.

The 6-5 Pioneers will play Alvin Living Stones (5-4) next, in the regional playoff round at a site and date yet to be named.

Granbury Cornerstone Christian Academy’s football squad has already made school history, and the Crusaders are aiming to do so one more time.

Coach Chris Eikenhorst’s Crusaders defeated Arlington St. Paul Preparatory Academy, 64-18, Saturday at Porcupine Stadium in Springtown, sending them into the Texas Christian Athletic Fellowship’s Div. II six-man football championship game against Azle Christian.

NCTA girls defeat McKinney, move to 2-0

The North Central Texas Academy girls basketball squad edged McKinney Christian, 43-41, Thursday for their second victory in as many outings.

The Lady Pioneers were paced by Esther Udonsi, with 18 points.

“This was a very tough game,” NCTA coach Jodie Stevens said. “McKinney Christian has a very fundamentally sound team with strong, big post players.

NCTA downs Tolar in season opener

The North Central Texas Academy Lady Pioneers were at full strength Monday night for their basketball season opener in Tolar.

The Tolar Lady Rattlers were not.

Tolar not only was facing the four-time TAPPS state champion Lady Pioneers, but also had to deal with the combination of having three of its basketball players still involved in volleyball playoffs, plus having injury woes.

The Cornerstone Christian Academy Crusaders thumped Irving Faustina Academy 74-40 Friday night at home in their state quarterfinal playoff game to advance to the Texas Christian Athletic Fellowship (TCAF) six-man Div. II football semifinals for the first time in school history.

The Pioneers’ bidistrict playoff game will be against San Marcos Hill Country on Friday at Prairie Lea, Texas.

The Cornerstone Christian Academy Crusaders are in the playoff brew.

Their 70-25 trouncing of Odessa Latter Rain Friday night at home on Senior Night in their final Texas Christian Athletic Fellowship six-man Div. II, District I football game of the regular season gave them a playoff berth and also assured the Crusaders of a home game in that opening round.
