The Cornerstone Christian Academy Crusaders fell to the Tyler Heat, 80-32, Friday in their nondistrict six-man football contest at Cornerstone’s field.

The game ended in the third quarter on the 45-point mercy rule.

It was the home opener for the Crusaders, who are now 1-2 on the season entering their next game, Friday at home (7:30 p.m.

The North Central Texas Academy Pioneers dropped their second straight six-man football contest Friday on the road, 59-14 against Evant.

Evant (3-0) scored 27 points in the third quarter to end the game on the 45-point mercy rule.

“We played another tougher opponent and played better this week,” NCTA head coach Kirby Rasco said.

CCA rallies for win

The Cornerstone Christian Academy Crusaders leveled their six-man football season record at 1-1, rallying for a 52-40 triumph on a stormy Friday night against Nazarene Christian in Fort Worth.

The Crusaders got three touchdowns from Josh Beaird and two from Zac Olsen, while quarterback Tanner Ives threw four TD strikes.

Cornerstone fell behind 20-6 in the first quarter, but outscored Nazarene Christian 40-13 over the next two quarters.

Cornerstone Christian Academy had some misfortune in the Crusaders’ six-man football season opener Friday on the road against Trinity Christian of Willow Park, a 50-40 loss played at the middle school field in Aledo.

Four Crusader touchdowns were called back by penalties, and dropped passes foiled several other Cornerstone TDs, according to Cornerstone’s coach, Chris Eichnehorst.

Pioneers rout Kopperl

The North Central Texas Academy Pioneers opened their six-man football season Friday night by thumping Kopperl, 57-8, getting five touchdowns from Tyler Hoskins in the road victory.

Coach Kirby Rasco’s Pioneers raced to a 32-8 halftime lead, then shut out the Eagles the rest of the way.

“We played really well (Friday) night,” Rasco said.
