Cornerstone coach garners milestone victory

As if getting his 900th career volleyball coaching victory wasn’t thrilling enough, coach Richard Lauer’s Cornerstone Christian Lady Crusaders got it in an exciting way Tuesday night.

The Lady Crusaders dropped the first two games of their match at home to Stephenville Faith. Then they came charging back for a memorable victory, giving their coach his milestone victory.

NCTA wins at Covington again

The North Central Texas Academy Lady Pioneers remained undefeated on Covington High School’s volleyball court this season, winning 25-9, 25-16, 25-15 Tuesday.

It was the site of a tournament championship for the Lady Pioneers earlier this season.

In running their record to 7-1 overall Tuesday (4-0 at Covington), the Lady Pioneers dominated play at the net.

Crusaders battle cry: No regrets

No regrets.

Cornerstone Christian Academy’s Crusaders should have that mentality when they leave the field in 2015, according to head football coach Chris Eikenhorst.

That’s the motto in play, coming off a 6-7 season in which the Crusaders reached the Texas Christian Athletic Fellowship Six-Man Div. II state championship game. They lost a 114-64 slugfest to Azle Christian, which finished as an unbeaten (12-0) state champion.

The North Central Texas Lady Pioneers continue to enjoy success under first-year volleyball coach Jordan Southerland.

The Lady Pioneers, coming off the championship of the Covington Tournament, split a pair of matches Tuesday night on the road. They dropped the first match to Kopperl 25-17, 25-21 and 25-18 before rebounding to sweep Penelope 25-8, 25-10, 25-13.

Pioneers gain split with Hill School, Tyler Street

The North Central Texas Academy Pioneers split their scrimmage Friday, defeating Fort Worth Hill School 4-1 and falling 6-4 to Dallas Tyler Street.

“Overall, I was pleased and surprised with our offense,” said NCTA coach Kirby Rasco. “We moved the ball well most of the scrimmage, both running and throwing.”

Quarterback Nash Siatchetema was 9-for-11 passing with five touchdowns an interception.

Husband-wife team new NCTA coaches

Two new coaches have joined the staff at North Central Texas Academy.

Chief Operating Officer Chuck Shipman announced the hiring of Jordan and James Southerland, a husband-and-wife team who have been at DeSoto Canterbury the past two years.

“They are going to be great additions to our program,” said Shipman. “They have family in the area also.
