March 18, 2015

The Granbury Pirates know they are going to the soccer playoffs.

What else is new?

Where they will finish in the District 8-5A standings, however, that’s another matter entirely.

The Tolar Rattlers opened District 13-2A baseball in thunderous fashion Friday, downing Gordon 26-0 in a road game.

Tolar pitcher Lance Smith pitched a no-hitter. Dusty Kimmell drove in five runs while reaching base five times, and Cade Brown drove in three runs while also getting on base five times.

The Amber Branson coaching era at Lipan has been consistently impressive, yet she doesn’t seek the spotlight.

Branson may be softspoken and low-key, but her record speaks loudly.

Those water temperatures that bring on active feeding for most species are just around the corner.
