MANSFIELD – It wasn’t exactly easy – but after all, no one expected winning four straight state championships would be a breeze.
The North Central Texas Academy girls basketball squad earned its fourth consecutive Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) Class A state title Saturday, finishing 22-5 in their first season under head coach Jodie Stevens.
The Lady Pioneers edged Plainview Christian 44-42 Friday in the semifinals at Mansfield High School before knocking off Fredericksburg Heritage School, 61-43, Saturday in the championship game at Timberview High School, 61-43.… Read the rest

AUSTIN – What was supposed to be the greatest season in Lipan Lady Indians basketball history ended up being ONE of the best.

The Granbury Lady Pirates’ 4-0 loss to Kennedale this past Friday has left them scrambling for a spot in the postseason with just three games remaining in the District 15-4A soccer race.
The Lady Pirates (8-9 overall) fell to 3-4 in district. They are tied with Cleburne (2-3-2 in district) for fourth place, each with six standings points. Teams get two points for a victory and one for a tie.… Read the rest
With their hopes of a sixth straight district soccer championship gone, the Granbury Pirates now must turn their attention to hanging onto a postseason berth.
They haven’t helped themselves recently with back-to-back losses to teams below them in the District 15-4A standings.
A 2-1 loss to Joshua early last week was followed by a 2-0 loss to Kennedale Friday.

HILER HONORED ON KXAS
Hannah Hiler, a senior volleyball and soccer player at Granbury High, was recognized as the Scholar Athlete of the Week on the “Inside High School Sports” television program on KXAS Channel 5 recently.
Hiler is also a member of the GHS student council, Key Club, National Honor Society, and the We The People Constitutiona Law Team. She also regularly volunteers with Habitat For Humanity.… Read the rest
The Tolar Rattlers dropped a doubleheader at Bosqueville recently, 10-9 and 11-1.
In the opening game, the Rattlers (1-2) led by a run in the final inning before Bosqueville rallied for a pair of runs and the victory. The second game got out of hand early for Tolar as they surrendered five first-inning runs.

The Granbury Pirates and Lady Pirates began the 2014 track season by competing in the Kangaroo Relays in Weatherford High School this past weekend.
Sophomore Jettin Murphy posted the highest finish for the Lady Pirates, taking second in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet. Eugene Geis pole vaulted to a second-place finish with a 12-5, while Derek Beck ws right behind in third at 12-0.… Read the rest

She gave them a goal – get to Austin and win state.
