Joaquin Moncivais, 9, of San Antonio recently completed a swimming program taught by his school district’s high school swim coaches. In his division he received medals for breast and back stroke. He is the son of Ben and Laurie (Pirkle) Moncivais of San Antonio and grandson of Laurel and Carol Pirkle of Granbury.

CLARK COACHES TEAM

TO ALL-STAR WIN

Granbury Lady Pirates head coach Tammy Clark was an assistant on the Class 5A-6A Red Team as they defeated the Blue Team 3-1 in the annual Texas Girls Coaches Association All-Star Match late last week.

Former Granbury Lady Pirate Aubrey was selected to play in the match, and had planned to return to Texas for the event.

Flyers beat heat to garner qualifying berths

The Blohowiaks are getting used to planning their family vacations around the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation Games of Texas.

For a third straight year, Macie Blohowiak of the Hood County Flyers has qualified for the prestigious competition July 30-Aug. 2 in Bryan/College Station.

She did so by finishing third in the TAAF Region 4 Meet in The Colony this past weekend.

SEALS once again sending strong contingent to state

In what has become tradition with them, the Granbury SEALS will wrap up another summer of swimming with a large contingent at the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation Games of Texas.

At this past weekend’s TAAF Region 4 Meet in Keller, the SEALS had 40 swimmers (17 males, 23 females) post top-five finishes in individual events, along with 36 relays (9 males, 15 females, 12 mixed) doing the same.

Granbury hosts all-star baseball tourneys

Granbury hosted its second all-star tournament of the summer as Brazos River Baseball presented an event. Granbury had teams entered in the 6-Under, 8-Under, 10-Under and 12-Under divisions.
