Braving temperatures barely above freezing, the 10-Under Granbury Pirates won the Northwest Texas Youth Football Association championship in Burleson recently.

Using last season’s matchup as a memory tool, the Lipan Lady Indians celebrated homecoming Saturday with a 65-49 victory against Bowie.
“Last year we blew a fourth quarter lead at Bowie and lost,” said coach Amber Branson. “I reminded the girls of that yesterday (Friday) in practice.
“They are a good team but we should have won that one last year, and I didn’t want the same thing happening this time.”
The Lady Indians (8-1) made certain, finishing the game with a 20-9 run.… Read the rest

Eleven years ago Tammy Clark was a new head volleyball coach with a struggling Granbury High program.
The once-proud program that had advanced to the playoffs numerous times had fallen on hard times. They hadn’t been to the postseason since 1996, and by 2003 – her first year – they were battling to win just six matches while losing 20.
But Clark was determined to make the program the best it had been.… Read the rest
