Granbury, NCTA football teams set for home openers; ‘Team Briggs’ night again

Both the Granbury Pirates (0-1), members of District 8-5A, and the six-man North Central Texas Academy Pioneers (1-0) will have their 2014 home football openers tonight, Sept. 5. Meanwhile, the District 7-2A, Div. I Tolar Rattlers (0-1) will be on the road Friday, at Comanche, and the Cornerstone Christian Academy Crusaders (0-1) will play in Fort Worth against Nazarene Christian in another six-man contest.…

Several Pirates sidelined for Denton game

Junior Brody Ables, the starting quarterback for the Granbury Pirates, is out for an undetermined number of games with a broken collarbone suffered during the second half of Friday’s 69-7 nondistrict football loss to the Azle Hornets. Head Coach Scotty Pugh also announced Wednesday morning that four GHS players are suspended for the next game, Friday at home against Denton High.…

Lady Pirates defeat Stephenville in straight sets

September 2, 2014

The Granbury Lady Pirates rolled to a straight-set, nondistrict volleyball victory over Stephenville, 25-14, 25-20, 25-23 Tuesday night at home in the James Wann Sports Center. The GHS junior varsity also beat the Honeybee JV, 29-27, 10-25, 25-17. Coach Tammy Clark’s varsity squad, now 17-6 on the season, slipped from No. 4 to No.6 in the new Texas Girls Coaches Association’s Class 5A poll released today.…

‘Team Briggs’ nights set for GHS volleyball, football games

Tuesday night’s (Sept. 2) Granbury High School volleyball game against Stephenville and Friday’s (Sept. 5) football game at Granbury against Denton High are designated “Team Briggs” nights, in support of GHS senior Briggs Berry. Cornerstone Christian Academy drops opening game

The Cornerstone Christian Academy Crusaders fell by a 50-40 margin in their season-opening six-man football contest Friday night against Trinity Christian Academy of Willow Park, in a game played at the middle school field in Aledo.
