Tolar sending a bunch to state track

Once again the Tolar track program will be well-represented at the University Interscholastic League State Track Meet in Austin May 15-16. In the Class 2A Region II Meet at Jesse Owens Complex in Dallas Friday and Saturday, Tolar qualified Rodie Brister (first in pole vault, first in 110 hurdles), Colt Jones (first in 800), Kaleb Gilliam (first in 400), Jake Jones (second in 800), Tristyn Klein (first in discus), Hannah Lee (first in 100 hurdles), Allison Lee (second in 800), and the boys 800 and 1600 relays.…

Pirates advance to playoffs in convincing style

The Granbury Pirates won 9-0 at Crowley Friday night, clinching the fourth and final playoff berth from the tough District 8-5A. The Pirates (14-7-2 overall) finished 9-5 in league play. Crowley (13-10, 8-6) saw its season end. Granbury will face District 7-5A champ Arlington Heights (20-4), No. 9 in the state, in bidistrict next weekend, times and dates to be announced Sunday or Monday.…

Lady Rattlers win warmup for 17th straight victory

The Tolar Lady Rattlers defeated Forsan, the No. 7 team in the state according to MaxPreps, 5-2 in a Class 2A playoff softball game Wednesday. It was the second win this season over Forsan for Tolar (19-9), which won for the 17th straight game. Tolar, which received a bye in bidistrict, will play De Leon or Moody in the area round of the playoffs May 8-9.…

Pitch, Hit and Run Saturday

The Boys & Girls Club of Hood County will present its second Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run competition Saturday behind Decker Gym from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. This is a free one-day event for boys and girls ages 7-14. Participants have the opportunity to compete at four levels, including Locals, Sectionals, Team Championships, and the National Finals at the MLB All-Star Game.…

Aledo tops Pirates with seventh-inning burst

The Aledo Bearcats scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to defeat the Granbury 5-1 in a District 8-5A baseball game at Tidwell Field Wednesday. Project Graduation Run Saturday

The 13th Annual Granbury High School Project Graduation 5K/1 Mile Fun Run is set for Saturday at the Hood County YMCA. Registration starts at 7 a.m., the 1-mile begins at 8, and the 5K run/walk starts at 8:30. Awards will be presented after the race.
