SEALS win big in first meet

The Granbury SEALS won their first meet of the season at home in the Dana Vollmer Municipal Swim Center. The SEALS females more than quadrupled runner-up Ridglea Pool Association, while the SEALS males more than doubled the score of Ridglea. The SEALS travel to Ridglea Saturday.…

Gray leads five Pirates on all-district baseball

Granbury junior catcher Landon Gray was named the District 8-5A Offensive Most Valuable Player by the league’s coaches recently. He is one of five Pirates to be named to the all-district team, joining junior pitcher Chandler Roop, first team, and second-team choices senior second baseman Payton Rhodes, sophomore outfielder Wes Case, and sophomore pitcher Matthew Hickey.…

Dave Campbell’s has Rattlers third, Pirates seventh

The 2015 issue of “Dave Campbell’s Texas Football” magazine is out. The Bible of Texas high school football has the Granbury Pirates picked to finish seventh out of eight teams in District 8-5A (ahead of Joshua) and Tolar picked third in District 7-2A Division I (behind state-ranked Goldthwaite and Hico). Granbury is coming off a 1-9 season and Tolar is coming off a 10-3 season in which the Rattlers reached the third round of the playoffs.…

Lady Pirates named all-district in softball

Junior Lily Thornton and senior Taelyn Beadle led the Granbury Lady Pirates’ All-District 8-5A softball selections, garnering first-team honors. Seniors Whitley Tipton and Destini Lopez were chosen for the second team, while senior Alyssia Allen and sophomore Livia Zamora received honorable mention. Carlton leaves Tolar to take Peaster post

Benita Carlton, who coached the Tolar Lady Rattlers to the District 10-2A basketball championship this season, has left Tolar to become the new head girls basketball coach at Peaster.
