Johnson new Tolar girls hoops coach

Jaci Johnson has been promoted to head girls basketball coach for the Tolar Lady Rattlers, athletic director Mike Franklin reported. She had worked as an assistant coach for Benita Carlton, who left a few weeks ago to become the head coach at Peaster. Holbrook wins HCN/First Tee tourney

Jake Holbrook shot an 82 in the rain Wednesday to win the second Hood County News/First Tee Junior Golf Tournament of the summer at Granbury Country Club. He was six shots ahead of runner-up Karsten Harrison. Madeline Phillips won the girls championship, shooting an 87 and besting runner-up Landree Chiles by eight strokes.…
