Former Pirate golfer wins PGA event

Diego Velasquez, who played for the Granbury Pirates from 2001-03, won the PGA’s Colombia Open this past weekend. He shot 18-under-par 266 to win by six strokes. Velasquez had rounds of 65-69-67-67. As a freshman, Velasquez helped the Pirates reach the Class 4A State Golf Tournament. He also played as a sophomore before returning home to Colombia as a junior. He also played college golf at Oregon State, where he was ranked second on the team.…

Raise Your Bows For Rio raises nearly $12K
