Lady Rattlers clinch playoffs

The Tolar Lady Rattlers wrapped up their first playoff berth since 2010 with a 6-2 victory against Ranger Tuesday. Tolar (15-9 overall) is 11-0 in District 11-2A. With a sweep of runner-up Ranger, the Lady Rattlers, who have won 13 straight, have also virtually clinched the district title.…

Rattlers win a couple

The Tolar Rattlers defeated Santo 10-0 Friday night in a District 13-2A baseball game and followed with a 10-4 win over De Leon Saturday. The Rattlers (12-1-1, 8-0 in district), ranked No. 13 in the state, have posted five shutouts in league play and have outscored their district opponents 155-6.…

Tolar track teams sweep district titles

The Tolar boys and girls won their respective District 10-2A championships Thursday at Rattler Stadium. The Rattlers scored 244 points to easily top runner-up Hico with 133. The Lady Rattlers scored 162.5 to Hamilton’s 147. It’s the third consecutive year for the Rattlers to win district as they qualified at least one individual for the April 23 Area 9/-10-2A Meet in Jacksboro in 16 of 17 events.…

Pirates, Lady Pirates finish third in District 8-5A golf; McDuff qualifies individually

The Granbury Pirates finished third in the District 8-5A Golf Tournament Tuesday and Wednesday at the Apache Links Course on Squaw Valley in Glen Rose. The Pirates shot 608 (302-306) over two days. Aledo won with a 599 (299-300) and Cleburne was second with a 600 (295-305). Davis McDuff of the Pirates did, however, qualify individually for the Region I Tournament April 15-16 in Lubbock, shooting a 149 (75-74) and defeating teammate Brady Wright (76-73) by making an 18-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole.…
