Tolar teams sweep area track meet

The Tolar Lady Rattlers and Rattlers each won their division in the Area 9/10-2A Track Meet Thursday in Jacksboro. The Rattlers won easily, scoring 201 points, while the Lady Rattlers rallied from 25 points down to win by two points. Among the highlights, Rodie Brister won pole vault with a 14-6 effort and ran a 15.87 to win the 110 hurdles, while Dalton Shaw qualified in five events.…

GHS sending five to Lubbock for regionals

Five athletes from Granbury have qualified for the Region I Track Meet in Lubbock May 1-2 after their performances in the Area 7/8-5A Meet in Joshua Wednesday and Thursday. Vander Zee leaving UT

Former Granbury Lady Pirate Lilley Vander Zee is leaving the University of Texas Lady Longhorns basketball team. School officials announced Thursday that she plans to play next season at West Texas A&M University. In two seasons with UT, Vander Zee played in 21 games, scoring 19 points with 11 rebounds and going 11-for-16 at the free throw line.…

Lipan qualifies five for track regionals

The Lipan track team qualified five competitors for the Class A Region III Meet from Wednesday’s Area 17/18-A Meet in Bryson. Keith Stafford took first in the 3200-meter run with a school-record time of 11:01, and finished second in the 1600. Santana Martinez set a school record of 4:58 to win the 1600 and had another school record of 2:13.03 in taking second in the 800, and William Westerhaus placed fourth in the 800.…

Indians rally for thrilling win over De Leon

The Lipan Indians defeated De Leon 11-10 at home Tuesday in a District 13-2A baseball game. Lipan (2-9, all district games) trailed 10-7 in the bottom of the seventh with two outs before getting four straight hits and two walks for the win. Ryder David delivered the game-winning walk-off RBI single, following Ty Mills’ bases-loaded double to tie the game.…

The Tolar Lady Rattlers ran their winning streak to 15 games and wrapped up the District 11-2A softball championship with a pair of wins in Perrin Tuesday. They defeated Bryson 18-3 in a makeup game that was rained out last Friday and followed with a 6-1 victory against Perrin-Whitt.
