Pirates wrap up spring workouts

Disc golf tournament to benefit tornado victims
A benefit disc golf tournament from which 100 percent of the proceeds will go straight to Mission Granbury and the storm victims from last week’s tragic events. is scheduled for Sunday (May 26) at the Granbury Disc Golf Course, 600 W. Moore St. The entry fee will be $5 and spectators can watch for free but are encouraged to donate. There will be an unlimited amount of mulligans (rethrows) allowed and each mulligan will cost $1, which will go toward the cause as well.… Read the rest
Pirate football practice canceled
The Granbury Pirates have canceled football practice for Tuesday and Wednesday, both morning and afternoon. All ninth-grade players are to still report to the field house for first-period athletics before the regular start of first-period classes at 8:45 a.m. All high school players will report to the field house for their regular school-day athletic period.… Read the rest

Big soccer tournament this weekend, donations accepted to help tornado victims
The Lake Granbury Spring Classic is taking place this weekend at Granbury City Fields with games from 5-10 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. There will also be a monetary Donation station sponsored by Red Cross at the tournament.… Read the rest

HCN Tennis Festival this weekend
The HCN Tennis Festival is Friday through Sunday (May 17-19) for juniors and adults. Friday is Youth Night with clinics and games from 5-7 at Pecan, along with pizza and soft drinks. Saturday will feature a meet-and-greet at 6:30 p.m. at Pecan, complete with a live band, that evening. Competition takes place all day Saturday and again Sunday afternoon at Pecan Plantation and the GISD courts.… Read the rest

Saturday morning in the boys pole vault, Rodie Brister of Tolar cleared 13 feet, 6 inches to grab sixth place after three tries at 14-0. The winner posted a height of 15-3. After a rain delay of a few hours on the first day of the meet on Friday, Tolar’s Reagan Mabery placed fifth in the Class 2A girls pole vault with a height of 10 feet, 6 inches.… Read the rest
