Pirates win big on Senior Night; Lady Pirates in playoff for second place

Senior Daniel Arnett comes in to pitch in relief with bases loaded and no outs in the fifth and finishes with three scoreless innings. He also had a clutch two-run double in the fifth. Sophomore Tristen Fallin hit a pair of home runs as Pirates remain tied for first in district with Arlington Heights, two games up on Aledo, which was upset 7-4 by Southwest.… Read the rest

Tolar is sending 11 boys and three girls on to the class 2A Region II Meet in Stephenville April 25-26. The Rattlers took first place, It’s the sixth meet the Rattlers have won this season in six attempts (with a full team), and runs their streak of winning invitationals, district and area without a loss to two seasons.… Read the rest

Judge wraps up solid GHS golf career at regionals

Pirates tie for fifth at regional golf

Class 4A Region I Boys Golf Tournament
Monday-Tuesday, Diamondback Golf Course, Abilene
The Granbury Pirates tied Cleburne for fifth place, narrowly missing a return trip to state. Both teams shot a 650 over two days (331-319 for Granbury). Trophy Club Nelson won the tournament with a 612 (319-293), followed by Denton Guyer at 625 (325-300) and Frenship at 642 (334-308) as state qualifiers.… Read the rest

The Granbury High tennis duo of Kate Bramlett and Elizabeth Morton are returning to the Class 4A State Tennis Tournament in Austin April 28-29. They qualified for a second consecutive season by finishing second at regionals. Gaylor expected to be new Indians coach

Brent Gaylor has been selected as the choice to be the new Lipan boys basketball coach, Lipan Superintendent Cindy Edwards confirmed Monday. Gaylor has been the boys head coach at Class 3A Childress for the past nine seasons and has a 219-85 record, including 28-5 with an area-round playoff appearance this past season. His playoff record is 11-6, with two regional semifinal appearances and two trips to the regional quarterfinals.… Read the rest

Potential new coach brings strong resume

If, as sources are confirming, Eastland girls basketball coach Steven Schmidt is to be presented for hiring as the new Granbury Lady Pirates basketball coach at Monday’s school board meeting, he will brings years of experience and success to the job. He’s been an educator for 24 years and a head girls basketball coach for 19. His resume includes winning a Class 2A state championship at Argyle in 2006, and leading them to the 3A state finals in 2009.… Read the rest
