Mr. and Mrs. Tom and Marty Smith celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 1, 2014 with a quiet dinner for two.
Thomas E. Smith and the former Martha F. Goff were married on April 1, 1964, in 29 Palms, Calif.
The couple resided in Oceanside, Calif. until Tom finished his tour with The United States Marines. Tom and Marty then moved to Durango, Colo., then later, Farmington and Aztec, N.M., until Marty retired from the New Mexico School System after 25 years and Tom retired from 41 years of Law Enforcement.… Read the rest

Roy and Wyleta Malone, of deCordova Bend Estates, recently celebrated their 65th anniversary.
On the afternoon of Friday, March 25, 1949, Roy applied for a marriage license only to be denied because he was not yet 21 years of age.
Roy pleaded with the judge and, along with the vouch of a cousin who worked in the office, Judge Hardwick agreed to issue the license on Roy’s word that he and Wyleta would not get married before Roy’s birthday on April 1.… Read the rest
Ray and Belle Menefee of Pecan Plantation celebrated their 70th anniversary this month.
Ray Menefee and the former Mary Belle Strain were married on March 11, 1944 while Ray was on leave from Air Force Pilot duties during WWII.
