Marine Corps JROTC cadets from Granbury High School and Crossland Ninth Grade Center attended an awards ceremony May 1.

The event was in the GHS Bagby-McMahan Performing Arts Center.

Granbury High sophomores Melaine Lively-Adams and Hannah Roberts have been selected to attend the 2013 North Texas Seminar of the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership program.

The conference will be held June 6-9 at TCU.

Hugh O’Brian, who portrayed legendary lawman Wyatt Earp in a 1950s television series, started the leadership program in 1958 following a visit with Dr. Albert Schweitzer. … Read the rest

GHS FFA wins sweepstakes

Granbury High School won sweepstakes at the Lake Whitney FFA District awards banquet April 30.

Earning the district sweepstakes title followed the GHS group wrapping up a successful judging season.

Granbury High School senior Ashlee Myers, a member of the Granbury FFA officer team, was recently presented the DEKALB Agricultural Accomplishment Award.

Myers received the award for excellence in academics, leadership and agricultural work experience.

The award, sponsored by Monsanto Company, celebrates its 66th anniversary this year. More than 168,000 high school seniors from across the country have received the award, which has become a symbol for excellence and the school’s highest agricultural honor.… Read the rest
