Thunderstorms, cooler temperatures on the way
Thunderstorms, mostly after 2 a.m. Wednesday, are on the way with the chance of precipitation set at 90 percent by the National Weather Service in Fort Worth. Two injured in rollover accident late Tuesday night
Two Hood County men were taken to hospitals Tuesday night after the car they were in left the roadway just after 10 p.m. on Tin Top Highway near Roberson Court and rolled over, trapping them under the vehicle. A passerby lifted one end of the upside-down car enough for one of the men to pull himself free. He was taken by ambulance to Lake Granbury Medical Center with minor injuries, a relative at the scene said.… Read the rest
Jury selection begins in capital murder case
Jury selection began this morning in the capital murder trial of Kimberly Danielle Milwicz, 24, in the Jan. 17, 2012, shooting death of Gene Sabin, a 63-year-old Rolling Hills Shores resident. Milwicz is the second of three defendants who were indicted in the case. Justin Ragan, 24, was convicted on his capital murder charge Jan. 31 and sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole.… Read the rest
Four transported after crash on Highway 377
One man was flown by air ambulance to a Fort Worth hospital and three other men were transported via ground ambulance to Lake Granbury Medical Center after a three-vehicle accident shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday on Highway 377 East in Granbury near the Highway 167 intersection. NWS: Low temperatures to start inching higher
More comfortable weather is becoming the norm heading into the second week of spring. After a low of about 37 degrees going into Wednesday, temperatures should dip only into the 50s the next several nights, according to the National Weather Service. Highs Wednesday and Thursday should be in the upper 60s, then rise to the low 70s Friday and Saturday. Hood County man flown to JPS after Fall Creek Highway crash
A Hood County man was transported by air ambulance to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth Monday night for treatment of injuries after his Dodge pickup collided with a water transport truck near Emmanuel Lutheran Church in the 2300 block of Fall Creek Highway at about 7:20. First responders had to extricate him from his pickup. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.… Read the rest

Lipan ISD teacher, coach accused of sexual assault of child
Tyson James Nolen, 25, a teacher in the Lipan ISD and head coach of the varsity baseball team, was arrested Tuesday and charged with two second-degree felonies – sexual assault of a child and improper relationship between educator and student, Hood County District Attorney Rob Christian stated Tuesday afternoon. Both charges involved one 16-year-old Lipan High School female student, Christian said.… Read the rest
‘Snake Man’ hospitalized after another bite
Jackie Bibby, the 63-year-old snake handler who is a star of “Rattlesnake Republic” on Animal Planet, suffered his third rattlesnake bite in just over a year on Friday at his home in Rising Star, and is receiving antivenom treatment in the Brownwood Regional Medical Center, according to one of his friends, Hood County attorney Paul Hyde. Bibby told Hyde he hopes to be released from the Brownwood hospital on Monday.… Read the rest
