Granbury inspector cites likely cause of Sept. 12 fire

Indictment alleges two underage victims of Hood County man

The Hood County grand jury’s aggravated sexual assault indictment against Douglas Eugene Fisher Jr., of the 5700 block of Arrowhead Drive in the Arrowhead Shores subdivision, states that his Sept. 24 arrest was in connection with sexual offenses involving two underage girls including one who was under 14 at the time, according to county documents.… Read the rest

Water-well owner training set for Oct. 2 in Weatherford

Anyone interested in private water-well management in Parker and surrounding counties is invited to the free Texas Well Owner Network training Oct. 2 in Weatherford. The training will be held from 8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. at the Doss Heritage and Culture Center, 1400 Texas Dr., said Drew Gholson, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service program specialist. People Helping People is 30 years old

Oct. 1 is the 30th anniversary for People Helping People, which provides food and clothing, free of charge, for people in need. PHP was organized by the Lake Granbury Ministerial Alliance. Its board of directors includes people representing various churches. Approximately 800 Hood County families receive help each month through PHP, which has about 80 active volunteers in various roles.… Read the rest

City to consider motor vehicle idling ordinance

Justin Kochis to compete for prestigious scholarship

Granbury High School senior Justin Kochis was named a semifinalist in the National Achievement Scholarship Program. The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced that Kochis was one of 1,600 Black American high school seniors to receive the designation. These students now have an opportunity to continue in the competition for about 800 Achievement Scholarship awards worth about $2.5 million that will be offered next spring.… Read the rest
