Weatherford Highway opened up; fire mop-up continues

City of Granbury Fire Inspector Kevin Jones said Weatherford Highway in Granbury is reopened to traffic as of shortly before 4:30 p.m. today. Firefighters continue to work in “mop-up” mode at the Equibrand rope plant fire in the 1300 block across from Daffan Industrial Park. Jones said firefighting crews will likely be at the site throughout the night, and asked that anyone driving past the area use caution.…

Code Red lifted for ‘shelter in place’ from fire’s smoke

Fire Marshal Ray Wilson said that the Code Red alert to “shelter in place” because of smoke concerns has been lifted for those who reside near the fire at the Equibrand rope plant in the 1300 block of Weatherford Highway. Firefighters are still doing “mop-up” work at the scene, and Weatherford Highway will remain closed a while longer because fire hoses are still lying across the roadway.…

Fire marshal: Equibrand fire in mop-up; highway still closed

The major fire that began just before 4 a.m. today at the Equibrand rope plant in the 1300 block of Weatherford Highway is entering into the “mop-up” stage, but the highway will remain closed for about another hour and a half, Fire Marshal Ray Wilson said at 3:30 p.m. Wilson noted that one Granbury VFD firefighter had a minor injury and was treated at the scene.…

Workshop Tuesday on town square project

The public can attend a workshop Tuesday (Dec. 1) that will include members of the Granbury City Council and the Historic Preservation Commission. They will discuss the Downtown Streetscape Plan. There will be no public hearing, so citizens will not be allowed to speak. However, more workshops on the square beautification project will be held in the future and citizens will be allowed to provide input, according to city officials.…

Toby Mobly defeated John Grace for Granbury City Council in Tuesday’s election. Mobly gathered 56 percent of the vote. Local and Texas voters favored all state amendments, and local voters passed all city of Granbury amendments. Barbara Townsend raked in 54 percent of the vote to defeat Mark Shackelford for Granbury School Board.…

Mobly leads Grace for City Council

Tony Mobly leads John Grace for Granbury City Council with 54 percent of the early vote to Grace’s 46 percent. Local voters overwhelmingly favor the city and state amendments. Barbara Townsend is in front of Mark Shackelford 58 to 42 percent in the Granbury School Board race. Bill Gilliam has a slim lead over Wendy Bonnell, 50.85 to 49.15 percent, for Tolar School Board.…

McDonald’s set to reopen this morning at 10:30
