The Tolar Lady Rattlers saw an early lead slip away as visiting Maypearl came away with a 54-43 victory Tuesday in a District 10-2A basketball game.
The Lady Rattlers (9-7, 2-2 in district) were outscored 38-20 over the course of the second and third quarters.
Hannah Peregrino led Tolar, posting a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

For three quarters the Tolar Lady Rattlers had trouble scoring points Tuesday.
Still, their defense kept them in the game against perennial toughie Godley in their District 10-2A basketball game in the Lady Rattlers’ gym.
In the end, however, Godley escaped with a 35-33 victory, bringing to an end the Lady Rattlers’ three-game winning streak.

The shorthanded Tolar Rattlers were tied with Fort Worth Country Day at the half Tuesday, only to see the game slip away in the final two quarters in a 66-44 loss.

Seven student-athletes made Tolar’s football academic all-district team for 2013.
Coach Mike Franklin said that, for the second year in a row, the requirements in the District 6-2A alignment state that the varsity lettermen named must have straight-As to qualify.

The Tolar Lady indians began 10-2A play with a 49-44 victory at Keene Friday.
Liz Bonnell scored 15 points and Hannah Peregrino had 12 points and 12 rebounds.

The Tolar Lady Rattlers held visiting Hico scoreless in the opening quarter Tuesday night en route to a 38-21 victory.
Carly Knapp led Tolar (7-5) with nine points.
“This was good win for us going into district,” said Tolar coach Benita Carlton. “I was worried with not having practice due to the weather how we would do. Before the game we talked about focusing on us, and getting better individually in this game.”

Quarterback Corbin Wood was voted Offensive Player of the Year and running back Cory Solomon earned first-team all-district for a third straight year to lead the way for Tolar in the 6-2A all-district football voting for the 2013 season.

The Tolar Lady Rattlers fell into a 17-point hole after the opening quarter against visiting Paradise Tuesday night and were unable to recover, falling 53-43.
The Lady Rattlers (5-5) were down 22-5 after the first eight minutes as Paradise blitzed to an early command. Tolar closed to within 35-21 at the half, but found themselves down 46-26 entering the fourth as Paradise once again came out sizzling in the third quarter.… Read the rest
