Rio Vista erupted for 25 points in the second quarter Tuesday night in Tolar on the way to a 71-51 District 10-2A boys basketball victory over the Rattlers.
Heston Buckalew and Dakota Endsley scored 17 and 16 points, respectively, to pace Tolar (1-15, 1-8). Hunter Ryan added 12 points, and teammate T.J. Foster notched eight assists.

The Tolar girls got 19 points from Shelby Nunley as they rolled to a 54-42 District 10-2A basketball triumph at home Tuesday night over Rio Vista, giving the Lady Rattlers continued hope in possibly securing a playoff berth.

State-ranked Maypearl handed the Tolar girls a 58-39 road setback Friday night that made the Lady Rattlers’ road to a possible playoff spot a little tougher.

Five members of the Tolar Lady Rattlers volleyball team were recently honored for their skills in the classroom as well as their abilities on the court.
Seniors Cheyenne Clark, Carson King, Madison Prichard Warren, Reagan Mabery and Meg Gilliam were named to the Texas Girls Coaches Association Class 2A Academic All-State Team.
In addition, Gilliam was second-team Texas High School Coaches Association Academic All-State, while Clark, King and Prichard Warren were honorable mentions.… Read the rest
The Godley Wilcats kept the middle locked down and Tolar’s shooting woes continued as the Rattlers fell 50-43 in a District 10-2A road game Friday night.
The Rattlers (1-12 overall, 1-5 in district) made 17 of their 54 field goal attempts (31 percent) on the night for Tolar, which never led.

Liz Bonnell and Hannah Peregrino combined to score 27 points, but it wasn’t enough Tuesday night as the Tolar Lady Rattlers lost a tight District 10-2A contest to visiting Keene, 49-44.
While Bonnell led scoring with 15 points, Peregrino led in rebounding, with 12, and steals, with three.

The Tolar boys had a shooting slump in the fourth quarter Tuesday that led to a 55-50 District 10-2A loss to Keene.
Tolar coach Kent Caruthers said that his Rattlers (1-11, 1-4 in district) missed 22 of their 30 shots from the field in the second half

The Tolar Rattlers had their second District 10-2A victory of the season within their sights Tuesday night.
Instead, they dropped a 53-52 home contest to Grandview when what would have been the winning shot bounced away as the final buzzer sounded.
Grandview had taken the lead with a dozen seconds left.
