Pioneers take third at state
The North Central Texas Academy Pioneers, led by the running of Austin Madden, finished third in the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools Class A State Cross Country Meet recently.
Madden clocked a time of 19:19 over the 3.1-mile course at Baylor University. Will Young of Nacogdoches Regents won with a 17:29. … Read the rest
Crusaders win by 70
The Cornerstone Crusaders made short work of Dublin Premiere Friday, topping the visitors 76-6.
The game was called at the half because of six-man football’s 45-point mercy rule.
The victory set up a showdown between the Crusaders (5-4, 2-0 in Texas Christian Athletic League Division II District 1) and defending state champion Stephenville Faith (8-0, 2-0). Those teams will meet Friday at Cornerstone, with Faith ranked first in the state and Cornerstone fourth.… Read the rest
Pioneers have no difficulty in blowing out WFC
The North Central Texas Academy Pioneers began their bye week a little early Friday.
NCTA disposed of Wichita Falls Christian 46-0 at home. The game was called at halftime because of six-man football’s 45-point mercy rule. It was their sixth mercy rule win of the season, as they opened with five straight such victories. … Read the rest
Pioneers bounce back big against replacement foe
The North Central Texas Academy Pioneers rebounded from their first loss of the season by topping Mineral Wells Community Christian 56-30 Friday.
The Pioneers (7-1) were originally supposed to play Wichita Falls Christ Academy, but that team canceled its season, so a last-minute replacement had to be found.

Cornerstone stays home, runs away by 50 in blowout
The Cornerstone Crusaders made short work of Comanche Premier Friday, winning 50-0 on their home field.
The game was called after the third quarter because of six-man football’s mercy rule.
The game was the Texas Christian Athletic League Six-Man Division II District 1 opener for the Crusaders (4-4 overall). It was also their second straight win after having dropped three straight.… Read the rest
Homecoming success

Five times this season the North Central Texas Academy Pioneers defeated their opponents by six-man football’s 45-point mercy rule.
Friday in Wichita Falls they found themselves on the other end of the mercy rule as they fell to the state’s No. 1 team in TAPPS Six-Man Division II.

Crusaders end skid with homecoming blowout
Last season the Cornerstone Crusaders only lost four games all season, reaching the second round of the Texas Christian Athletic League playoffs and finishing 8-4.
They entered Friday’s homecoming game against Fort Worth Christian Life Prep having dropped three straight.
Still, playing one of the toughest schedules in the state for a team their size, the Crusaders (3-4) found themselves coming into the contest ranked fourth in the state in TCAL Division II in one poll.… Read the rest
Crusaders score lot, but fall in shootout
The Cornerstone Crusaders and Cleburne Christian combined for 166 points Friday as Cleburne came away with an 89-77 victory.
Cornerstone (2-3) was done in largely by the one quarter in which defense somewhat prevailed. Cleburne (4-1) outscored them 14-6 in the third.
“This game was great for our young program because it is the first time that we have scored greatly against a really good team,” said Cornerstone coach Bobby Johnson.… Read the rest
Pioneers set up showdown
Now comes the game the North Central Texas Pioneers have been looking forward to all season.
NCTA (6-0) travels to Wichita Falls Notre Dame (4-0). It is the district opener for both state-ranked powers, and a game that will likely decide who wins the league.
NCTA is ranked fifth in TAPPS Division II by Sixmanfootball.com. Notre Dame is No. 1.
