The North Central Texas Academy Lady Pioneers (2-10)had their two-match volleyball win streak ended with a 25-19, 25-14, 25-13 loss to Cleburne Christian.
“The girls played some of the best volleyball they have played all year,” said NCTA coach Kari Yeager, despite the loss.
“Cleburne Christian has some very good hitters, and we did our best to keep up.”

The North Central Texas Academy Lady Pioneers won their second consecutive volleyball match Tuesday, sweeping Dallas Tyler Street 25-23, 25-17, 28-26.
Esther Udonsi led NCTA (2-9) with nine kills and three blocks. Cynthia Rivas posted seven kills and three blocks, and Sydney Lindsey finished with five blocks and a half dozen kills.

For a second consecutive week turnovers plagued the North Central Texas Academy Pioneers as they dropped to 0-2 with their second road loss, 66-28 at Blum Friday.
“We played a lot better this week than last,” said head coach Kirby Rasco. “We moved the ball well, but again, turned the ball over three times.”

The Cornerstone Crusaders prepared for their showdown with two-time defending Texas Christian Athletic Fellowship Six-Man Division II state champion Azle Christian by walloping public school Sidney 52-6 Friday at home.
The game was called with three minutes left in the third quarter because of six-man football’s 45-point mercy rule. It’s the second time in as many weeks the Crusaders (2-0) have won in such a fashion, dropping Wise County Home School 53-6 in the season opener.… Read the rest

North Central Texas football coach Kirby Rasco promised one very tough schedule this season.
Saturday night in Zephyr, the first game in that tough schedule was played. It was a 63-16 loss, but Rasco said he saw some things that can make his Pioneers a better team.
“We have lots of work to do,” Rasco said. “However, there were bright spots on both sides of the ball.”

The growth and maturity process of the Cornerstone Christian Academy football players parallels that of the program, according to head coach Bobby Johnson.
Last year was only the second varsity season for the Crusaders, who finished 6-6 and were eliminated in the second round of the playoffs for the second year in a row in the Texas Christian Athletic League. Whereas some coaches might look at losing half of their starting lineup with concern, Kirby Rasco remains confident at North Central Texas Academy.
Basically, because the three returning starters he has back on offense are among the best players in Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools six-man football.

The North Central Texas Academy Lady Pioneers dropped their volleyball season opener Tuesday at Temple Holy Trinity, 25-7, 25-15, 25-19.
“We improved with each game,” said first-year coach Kari Yeager.

The Hood County area’s two private schools saw their first action against someone other than their own teammates this past weekend.
And coaches at North Central Texas Academy and Cornerstone liked what they saw as both teams swept their scrimmage opponents.
