Crusaders one win from TCAF state

The Cornerstone Crusaders are hoping their switch to a new league will bring about similar results.

Cornerstone’s boys basketball team will take an 18-3 record into the postseason next week as they begin the quest for a return to state.

Last season the Crusaders reached the semifinals of the Texas Christian Athletic League State Tournament, finishing 15-10.

Lady Pioneers wrap up district title

The North Central Texas Academy Lady Pioneers wrapped up another Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools District 2-A championship Friday with a 62-32 thumping of Wichita Christian.

Now begins the postseason quest for a fourth consecutive state TAPPS Class A state championship.

The victory was the 12th straight for the Lady Pioneers (17-5, 10-0), who completed a perfect sweep through their league.

The North Central Texas Academy boys and girls basketball teams continued their run through TAPPS District 2-A with wins over Wichita Falls Christ Academy Saturday at home.

The Pioneers also made their first appearance in the state rankings this week, 25th among small private schools in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches poll.

The North Central Texas Pioneers won their 10th straight game Tuesday, blasting Brownwood Victory Life 75-22.

The Pioneers (10-2, 6-0 in TAPPS 2-A) got 20 points from Stefan Rosic.

NCTA raced out to a 37-8 lead after the first quarter.

“We got off to another quick start. Everyone got to play multiple minutes,” said coach Kirby Rasco.

The North Central Texas Academy Lady Pioneers withstood an upset bid by visiting Wichita Falls Notre Dame Saturday to remain atop the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools District 2-A standings with a 39-36 victory.

“This was by far our toughest district game,” said NCTA coach Jodie Stevens. “It was a battle the entire time.”

Carolina Bianchi’s 3-pointer with 48 seconds left provided the difference.

The North Central Texas Academy Pioneers remained perfect in Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools District 2-A play Tuesday with an 81-57 victory at Denton Selwyn.

The Pioneers (8-2, 5-0 in district) turned a close game into a big lead with a 19-9 run over the course of the second quarter.

The North Central Texas Academy Pioneers ran their winning streak to seven games this basketball season with a pair of weekend victories.

They disposed of Wichita Christian 67-31 at home. They then hit the road and returned with a 66-26 triumph against Fort Worth Covenant Classical.

The Pioneers (7-2 overall, 4-0 in TAPPS 2-A) stormed to big leads twice.

The North Central Texas Academy Pioneers turned a close game early into a rout, topping Wichita Falls Christ Academy 60-18 in a Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools District 2-A basketball contest. in Wichita Falls.

The Pioneers led 16-10 after the first quarter. They then went on a 42-4 run over the second and third quarters.

The North Central Texas Academy Lady Pioneers stormed out to a huge lead early and went on to defeat their hosts, Wichita Christian, 59-13 in a Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools District 2-A basketball game.

The Lady Pioneers led 24-0 after the first quarter and 41-4 at the half.

NCTA wins district opener

The North Central Texas Academy Pioneers began play in the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools District 2-A with a 61-23 thumping of Brownwood Victory Life recently.

The Pioneers improved to 4-2 overall.

Stefan Rosic scored 23 points and Marvin Ivanovic added 22 points for the Pioneers.

NCTA wasted no time in jumping out to a 21-3 lead after the first quarter and increased its lead to 39-7 at the half.
