NCTA golf 3rd at state

May 8, 2013

The North Central Texas Academy Pioneers finished third in the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools Class A State Golf Tournament.

The Pioneers posted an 818 (411-407) over two days on the Cottonwood Creek course in Waco. Lubbock Southcrest won with a 775 (391-384), followed by Wichita Falls Notre Dame at 788 (393-395). Read the rest

Cornerstone doubles Trinity

The Cornerstone Crusaders improved to 4-3 this season with a 6-3 victory at Willow Park Trinity Tuesday.

Kyle Hutto led the Crusaders on the mound and at the plate. He pitched a four-hitter, striking out 10, and batting he was 3-for-4.

Lady Pioneers receive hoops honors

With championships come accolades, and the North Central Texas Academy Lady Pioneers have plenty of honors on the heels of winning their third consecutive Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools Class A state basketball championship.

The honors for the Lady Pioneers (27-3) ranged from all-district to all-state.

Senior power forward Shelby Lyle led the awards, being named first -team all-state, first-team All-District 2-A, MVP of the district, and to the all-state tournament team.Read the rest

NCTA netters reach state

April 10, 2013

Three members of the North Central Texas Academy tennis team have qualified for the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools Class A State Tournament.

Jared Dodson qualified in boys singles. He advanced to the finals and finished second in the TAPPS District 2-A Tournament at Wichita Falls recently.

He will be joined by the boys doubles team of Elias Fekadu and Nahom Newland, who finished third in district.Read the rest

C’stone thumps Nazarene

The Cornerstone Crusaders improved to 3-2 in their first varsity baseball season with a 15-2 thumping of the Fort Worth Nazarene junior varsity Tuesday.

Kyle Hutto came within a home run of hitting for the cycle, collecting a single, double and triple in his four at-bats for. Jared Rudd went 4-for-4, all singles, and Justin Barrington went 3-for-4 with a double, and one of Dylon Overstreet’s two hits was a home run.Read the rest

Crusaders celebrate, look to next season

They don’t waste time at Cornerstone Christian Academy.

Just as they did in football, the Cornerstone varsity boys basketball team was an overnight success.

Only in their second season at the varsity level, the Crusaders came within a couple of victories of the ultimate prize.

The Crusaders, in fashioning a 15-10 record, advanced to the Texas Christian Athletic League Class A State Tournament semifinals in Frisco.Read the rest

The Cornerstone Crusaders (14-8) won the Texas Christian Athletic League regional championship, defeating Stephenville Faith 50-42, and are competing in the TCAL State Tournament this weekend in Frisco. Lady Pioneers back at state

As a player for Granbury High, Emily Britt was on one of the best basketball teams in Texas but never won a state championship.

The North Central Texas Academy Lady Pioneers began their quest for a third straight state basketball championship with a thundering 50-22 win over visiting Bellville Faith Academy Thursday night in the area round of the playoffs.

Late defensive heroics save NCTA victory

The North Central Texas Academy Pioneers overcame a five-point deficit in the final 1:39 for a 47-45 victory against visiting Wichita Christian Friday.

The win clinched a playoff berth for the Pioneers (10-13, 8-3 in TAPPS 2-A).

Elias Fekadu’s 2-point basket was followed by Caleb Finley’s 3-pointer with 39 seconds remaining to tie the contest at 45. Then, after the NCTA defense forced a turnover with 19 seconds to play, Finley took the inbounds pass and scored on a layup with six seconds to go.Read the rest
