GHS sweeps another

With the exception of their loss to Aledo, the Granbury Lady Pirates are undefeated in District 7-4A volleyball.

Literally.

The Lady Pirates have not only not dropped a match, they haven’t even lost a game within those matches.

This includes Tuesday’s 25-14, 25-19, 25-11 thrashing of Fort Worth Southwest Tuesday at the James Wann Sports Center. Read the rest

Acton Elementary fourth-grade student Raegan Brown was the winner in the women’s division of the 10th Annual Granbury High Project Graduation 5K/1-Mile Fun Run Saturday morning at the Hood County YMCA. Raegan’s mother Jennifer Brown ensures she’s cooled down and hydrated after the grueling 5K (3.1-mile) race. Project Graduation fundraisers pay for an all-night party where graduating seniors can celebrate in a fun and safe environment free of charge.Read the rest

Lambda Pi members Ann Schmidt and Bobbie Brownlee were recognized for their years of service at the recent Area X Luncheon meeting of Delta Kappa Gamma at the Fort Worth Woman’s Club. Ann has been a member for 35 years and Bobbie for 25 years. Both women, past presidents of Lambda Pi, currently serve on committees at the state level. H-E-B recently presented its grand opening Community Gift of $10,000 to Hood County Committee on Aging (HCCOA). Presenting the check on behalf of H-E-B is Pat Wilson, Granbury store director. Two freshmen from Crossland Ninth Grade Center, Colten Bison (left) and Sam Spradlin, won vouchers to purchase breeding animals during a calf scramble at the recent San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. 4-H and FFA members compete with one another to catch, halter and coax one of the calves across the winner’s line. The successful scramblers receive a certificate to aid in the purchase of a breeding animal to be raised and shown in the competition the following year.Read the rest

It didn’t take long for 7-year-old Frankie Rodriquez and his 9-year-old sister Alexis to find the toy department while shopping with their family Saturday afternoon.
