Tickets still available for HALO’s ‘Chari-Tea’
Tickets are still available for the inaugural “Chari-Tea” fundraiser to benefit the Hood County Animal Lovers Organization (HALO), officials with the all-volunteer group said.
The Chari-Tea (charity) event is set for 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, April 21 at the Bentwater Activity Center. The cut-off date for buying tickets, which are $20 each, is this Monday. … Read the rest
Two injured in rollover
A first responder surveys the damage Tuesday night after this car left the roadway on Tin Top Highway and rolled over near Roberson Court. The driver, 21-year-old Tim Gross, and passenger, 22-year-old Jason Putz, both were temporarily trapped underneath. Passerby Trampuss Ehrich said he lifted one end of the car just enough to allow Putz to escape his entrapment, and he was taken to Lake Granbury Medical Center with minor injuries.… Read the rest

Trampuss Ehrlich is a stout man with large hands who apparently doesn’t know his own strength. At least he didn’t Tuesday night.

Animal Control hours changed
The hours of operation for the Hood County Animal Control facility have changed, hopefully to provide more convenience for the public, Hood County Sheriff’s Office Captain A.T. Vines said.
The new hours, implemented on Monday, are now 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. The facility will be open 9 a.m.-noon on Saturday for adoptions only.… Read the rest

Six felony arrests were made between March 28 and April 3. Suspects were arrested here, but the alleged crimes may have occurred outside the county. They have not been convicted of the charges listed.

One flown to area hospital
Granbury police officers work the scene after a two-vehicle crash late Saturday afternoon in the 3400 block of Highway 377 East in front of Dollar General that sent the driver of this 1994 Chevrolet, Hillary Marie Carroll, 24, of Granbury, to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth via air ambulance. Granbury Police Department Deputy Chief Alan Hines said the accident occurred when Carroll pulled out of a private driveway and failed to yield to a 2012 Dodge pickup driven by Tyler Duane Sams, 28, of Granbury, who did not require medical treatment.… Read the rest
Bidding to start for county buildings
The county purchasing agent has been instructed by the Commissioners Court to begin the bidding process for a CMAR – Construction Manager at Risk – for construction of a new Animal Control facility and Emergency Operations Center (EOC).

Effort to beautify square gets nod from commissioners
During the same meeting in which County Auditor Stan McBroom reported that the final reimbursement for the courthouse restoration was received this week from the Texas Historical Commission (THC), county commissioners acted to get back something they feel they lost to the THC.
It had not been well received when the THC demanded that crepe myrtle trees around the courthouse be removed because, according to County Judge Darrell Cockerham, those trees were not there when the historic courthouse was built.… Read the rest
Motorcyclist speeds off, crashes
A man seen speeding on a motorcycle tried to elude a deputy Tuesday night in a 3-mile vehicle pursuit on Weatherford Highway that reached speeds of up to 100 mph before the bike crashed and he was arrested, according to Hood County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Johnny Rose.
Christopher Cody King, 29, of the 800 block of Whippoorwill Drive in the Whippoorwill Bay subdivision north of Granbury, was charged with felony evading with a vehicle, Rose said.… Read the rest
Hood County man given 99 years for ninth DWI
A Hood County man convicted of his ninth DWI received the maximum sentence of 99 years in prison last week, District Attorney Rob Christian said.
Wayland Terry Green, 49, of the 3200 block of Crystal Court in the Lakeside Hills subdivision, had previous DWI convictions in 1982, 1983 (twice), 1988, 1990, 1992 and 2000 (twice), all in Hood County, Christian said.… Read the rest
