Tornado brings outpouring of donations, volunteers
The day after a tornado destroyed the Rancho Brazos neighborhood, Hood County was hit with a flood.
Donations and offers of help came pouring in to such an extent that relief effort coordinators asked people to stop.
“Enough!” Jeff Watson of the Chisholm Trail Chapter of the American Red Cross said good-naturedly to a group of about 60 people who gathered Thursday morning in the sanctuary of First Christian Church on Highway 377.… Read the rest
Men experience tornadic winds in bass boat
Yes, they were wearing their life jackets.
While fishing in the Wednesday night Working Man’s Fishing Tournament out of Lake Granbury Marina, Vincent Hernandez and Steve Wilson found themselves about a mile from the tornado touchdown in the Rancho Brazos neighborhood.
“The waves were about 5 feet, the rain was blowing sideways and we were in a 16-foot Skeeter bass boat,” Hernandez recalled.… Read the rest

Vehicles, such as this one buried under fallen wires and debris, were only part of the devastation that resulted from the tornado that ripped through Rancho Brazos Wednesday evening. Voting is taking place from 7 to 7 today to determine three seats on the Acton Municipal Utility District (AMUD) board.
