KEENE — It was almost a love first quarter in a St. Valentine’s Lipan-Abbott Class A Division II area girls basketball playoff game Friday night.
Abbott, down 36-0, finally scored with 34 seconds left, preventing an opening-period shutout.

TOLAR – The Lipan Indians celebrated their return to the playoffs with a 74-49 thumping of Walnut Springs in their Class A Division II bidistrict basketball game Monday at Tolar High School.
The Indians missed the playoffs in 2013, their first vacation from the postseason in a couple decades.

Save for a 20-8 run by Huckabay in the second quarter, the Lipan Indians controlled much of the game against Huckabay, the state’s No. 9 team Wednesday in Huckabay.
Lipan outscored Huckabay in three of the four quarters, but still lost the game 59-54.

In what was expected to be one of their biggest tests of the season, the Lipan Lady Indians made short work of Goldthwaite in a Class A playoff warmup basketball game Saturday, 64-29.
