Pirates passed character test with strong finish
AUSTIN – With 265 yards between himself and the green, Austin Kinsey made a gutsy decision.
He pulled out a driver, hit a near-perfect shot, and found himself on the fringe of the green. He pitched and one-putted for a birdie four on the par-five hole.

Benson’s final round more than great score
AUSTIN – Granbury golf coach Steve Ward remembered the moment he realized he had something special in Travis Benson.
“He was a freshman, and he shot in the 90s one day in a tournament, then he came right back the next and shot in the 70s,” said Ward.

When Miles Wagner hit a towering home run to end last Thursday’s 11-0 win over Fort Worth Arlington Heights and clinch third place in District 7-4A for the Granbury Pirates, he actually defied the advice of his coach.

Richardson first Granbury boy to reach state track since ’04
In perhaps the most exciting race at the meet, Granbury’s Chris Richardson emerged with a bit of history and a state berth Saturday in Abilene.
Richardson finished second in the 400-meter dash at the 4A Region I Track and Field Meet at McMurry University.
This qualified Richardson for the 4A State Meet in Austin May 10-11. He’s the first Granbury boy to advance to state since Brad Gardner in 2004, finishing fourth in the 300 hurdles.… Read the rest
Granbury Civic Chorus plans concert of Musical Reflections
The Granbury Civic Chorus will present its spring concert Monday, May 6 at 7 p.m. at Acton United Methodist Church.
The concert, Musical Reflections: Songs of the Human Experience, encompasses a wide variety of music genres, themes and time periods.
