Woman flown to area hospital following crash

Firefighters had to use a metal-cutting tool to extricate a Hood County woman from the car she was driving after it left the roadway and struck a tree on Paluxy Highway near the Hill City Highway intersection south of Tolar early Sunday morning, shortly after midnight. The woman was flown from the scene by air ambulance to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth with life-threatening head and internal injuries, according to an official at the scene.
