Tea Party candidate debate well attended

October 9, 2012

Most of the seats at the American Town Hall were filled Tuesday night, Oct. 9, as the Hood County Tea Party hosted a debate for candidates in two races for the Granbury City Council. All five candidates participated. Mitch Tyra, incumbent, Place 3, was there along with his challenger, real estate investor and Planning and Zoning Commission member Gary Couch. And Laurel Pirkle, incumbent, Place 5, was seated next to his competitors, former City Manager Harold Sandel and Keith Tipton, a former bed and breakfast owner. Predominant topics were the need to protect water rights to Lake Granbury and lowering high electric rates. The election is Tuesday, Nov. 6.
