Fallon Wayne Hart, 35, of Kerens, has been charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer with a deadly weapon, and one felony count of evading arrest or detention with a vehicle after Monday morning’s incident on Spanish Trail Drive in which the suspect is accused of firing a rifle at one Granbury Police officer and one Hood County Sheriff’s Office deputy, according to GPD Deputy Chief Alan Hines. Other charges likely are pending, according to Sheriff Roger Deeds. A woman, yet to be identified, is also in custody in connection with the incident but authorities have not yet released information on her identity or status. Hart was taken into custody near a residence in the 1300 block of Spanish Trail Drive after a predawn search that involved Granbury police, Sheriff’s Office deputies, DPS trooopers and a DPS helicopter following an police officer’s report of a suspicious vehicle at EZ Mart on South Morgan Street in Granbury shortly after 3:30 a.m. A pickup was reportedly stolen from a residence on Spanish Flower. School buses headed into the vicinity of the Heritage Heights, Comanche Cove and Spanish Trail Drive areas in the Misty Meadows subdivision were temporarily barred their normal routes while the incident was unfolding. No officers or residents were injured, but an ambulance was called because of a leg injury the male suspect apparently sustained.
