State, defense rest in Lewis capital murder trial

Prosecutors and defense attorneys will present their closing statements to the jury in 355th Judicial District Court Friday morning in the capital murder trial of Gordon Ray Lewis, 36, who is accused in the January 2012 shooting death of Gene Sabin, a 63-year-old Rolling Hills Shores resident who managed T.J.’s Private Club and Cafe near the entrance to Oak Trail Shores. On Thursday, jurors heard testimoney from a 42-year-old Hood County man who said he was in a vehicle a few days before Sabin’s murder when he overheard Lewis and two others who have been previously convicted in the case discussing plans to rob T.J.’s.
