Star of ‘Rattlesnake Republic’ has lower leg amputated after recent bite

Jackie Bibby, 61, who set a world record in Granbury on July 7 when he held 13 snakes in his mouth, had to have part of his right leg amputated just below the knee last Saturday at Parkland Hospital in Dallas after he was bitten by a rattlesnake during a private show he was doing as part of a corporate event, according to a friend, local attorney Paul Hyde. Bibby said he intends to continue working with snakes, which he has done for 43 years.
