St. Helen’s acquisition once again voted down

The Granbury City Council once again voted down acquiring the St. Helen’s building to expand the Opera House – despite what seemed to be high hopes that new council member Gary Couch would make the difference. Couch was in favor of the acquisition; the council member he replaced – Mitch Tyra – was not. The vote was 3-2 to move forward with the architectural plans of Brian Gaffin, using the Opera House’s original footprint. Several members of the audience who were known supporters of expanding the Opera House appeared disappointed, and left the meeting after the vote.
