Churches are still providing shelters for families who lost their homes in the recent tornado. First Christian Church, 2109 W. Highway 377, housed the American Red Cross service center immediately after the tornado. The church was the site for many seeking shelter after the tornado, and they received cooked meals, clothes and bottled water. Household items and kitchen kits are available. As of Friday, 11 people were still sheltered at First Christian Center. Mission Granbury is providing shelter at various locations for some 40 people displaced from the tornado. St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 2301 Acton Highway, is providing shelter to 54 people, according to reports Thursday. Officials said the shelter has plenty of “stuff.” Cash donations can be made to the church or to Mission Granbury to help with future needs as recovery continues.
