‘Snake Man’ Jackie Bibby recovering at home in Rising Star

Jackie Bibby, the 61-year-old star of the Animal Planet television series “Rattlesnake Republic,” is now at his home in Rising Star as he continues to recover from a Sept. 12 rattlesnake bite that forced doctors at Parkland Hospital in Dallas to amputate part of his right leg, below the knee. Bibby said he spent about a week in Parkland’s physical rehab center, and returned home on Oct. 12. The daredevil performer set a world record in Granbury last July when he held the tails of 13 rattlesnakes in his mouth at the same time. He said he plans to consult with a doctor next week about getting a prosthesis fitted for the leg. In the meantime, he has crutches and a wheelchair to get around the house.
