Sheriff: Jail will soon have credit card machine

When new County Attorney Lori Kaspar got approval Tuesday (Feb. 26) from the Commissioners Court to have a credit card machine for fines and fees, Sheriff Roger Deeds realized that he needed to get with the program, too. Deeds says that two credit card machines – one for Animal Control pet adoptions and one for the county jail – will be on an upcoming Commissioners Court agenda. The sheriff said that inmates will be able to pay Class C misdemeanor fees with a credit card – which will help hold down the jail population, especially on weekends.
